Nonprofit CTE Program
  PROGRAM Description

Piloted in 2017, the North Bay Construction program is a promising CTE model for high school seniors. The five-month course, taught by industry professionals, exposes students to different aspects of the construction trades. Along the way, students gain skills in First Aid/CPR and forklift operation. At the end of the program, students complete a two-week construction boot camp and begin earning a paycheck before they graduate. At graduation, they earn a trades scholarship. Early results are encouraging: the program reported that every participant received multiple job offers. The program was developed in partnership with the North Coast Builders Exchange, CTE Foundation Sonoma County, Santa Rosa Junior College, and the Sonoma County Office of Education.
